Almond Hill House

Almond Hill House is a charming traditional farmhouse with stunning views across the Andalucian countryside. The main house has sloped or level access to the main living spaces, two of the bedrooms (Olive and Fig), and all areas in the beautiful gardens, terrace and pool.

The characterful open-plan living/dining room has a vaulted ceiling with beams, comfortable sofas, flat-screen TV (with Netflix, Disney and Prime for guest’s own log-in), and woodburner, leading into a pretty rustic kitchen with double height ceiling.

Steps lead from the living/dining room to the front door, level access into the house is via exterior slopes on the main terrace and through the blue door into store area. The utility room has laundry facilities and a shower cubicle. 

The main house has a pretty plant patio which can be accessed from the living room and three of the bedrooms (2 or 3 steps into bedrooms).

Almond Hill House has a lovely selection of individually styled bedrooms (four en-suite).

‘Olive’ is a spacious accessible en-suite bedroom with direct level access from a wide accessible stone path, original beams. tiled flooring, and air-conditioning. The bedroom can be configured as a super-king or twin bedroom.

The en-suite wet-room has a wide doorway, large step-free shower, fixed grab-rail for shower, static shower chair, fixed grab-rail for WC, and wheel-under washbasin.

‘Orange’  is a super-king or twin bedroom with steps leading from a separate doorway at the front of the house, air-conditioning, ceiling fan, and a shared bathroom with ‘Lemon’, providing an ideal family suite. Lemon has super-king or twin beds, ceiling fan, and steps leading from the plant patio and through to Orange.

The shared family bathroom between Orange and Lemon bedrooms has a shower over a full-size bath, washbasin, and WC.

‘Wisteria’ is a first floor bedroom reached via pretty tiled steps onto a private terrace with panoramic views. The bedroom has super-king or twin beds, air-conditioning, ceiling fan, and an en-suite shower room.

‘Almond’ is a double bedroom with one step leading down from the plant patio, original beamed ceilings, air-conditioning, and a small shower room.

Almond also has three steps leading up to ‘Fig’, an adjoining bedroom separated by a curtain or solid wood partition with full-sized single bed. Fig has a shared shower room with Almond, standing fan, and a separate level entrance leading from the living room. A second shower is also available in the utility room.

The layout of the bedrooms and configuration of furniture can be adapted to individual needs. The bedrooms have timed central heating for the cooler months.

The house has level and sloped access to all of the beautiful outdoor spaces via wide stone paths.

The main south-facing terrace has an established wisteria tree providing shaded cover, and panoramic views to the pool, olive terraces, and mountains. Guests can enjoy comfortable seating and chairs in several seating areas, and a large dining table with free-standing seating.

A stone path leads to the lawns and Pergola with gas BBQ and seating areas.

The gardens also have a gated/enclosed private pool terrace with lockable gate (sliding bolt), large pool, shaded area with sun-loungers, sunny terrace with sun-loungers, and an outdoor shower. The pool can be accessed via deep steps with a hand-rail.

Guests can enjoy exploring two acres of grounds with orchard, fruit trees, and olive terrace (not wheelchair accessible). Private parking is provided on the driveway which is a wheelchair accessible olive terrace.

The house has contrasting dark doors against white walls and automatic timed outdoor lighting to illuminate pathways at night.

Almond Hill House is ideal for family or friends group holidays, and can also be booked for retreats, workshops or events with studio space available.

Almond Hill House is situated in Las Barreras, a tranquil and secluded setting between the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the coast, and is just 8 minutes drive from the town of Orgiva with weekly market, restaurants, cafes, and shops.

Guests can enjoy exploring the pretty white villages in the Alpujarra region, and the spa town of Lanjaron with mineral water spa, therapeutic thermal baths, water and honey museums, and the ruins of a Moorish castle.

The beaches of the Costa Tropical are a 45 minutes drive away, and the beautiful city of Granada with famous ‘Alhambra’ is around an hour’s drive away. The house is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes drive from Malaga Airport, and around 50 minutes drive from Granada Airport.
