Balgownie Mains Farm

Balgownie Bunkhouse is a luxury wheelchair-accessible lodge situated on a 300 acre working family farm with stunning panoramic views of the West Fife countryside.

The dog-friendly bunkhouse can be booked exclusively to accommodate up to 12 guests or the 3 en-suite bedrooms can be booked out separately (with shared living space).

Balgownie Bunkhouse has a light and airy open-plan living space with large windows and sliding doors opening onto accessible decking with uninterrupted views. The living space has comfortable leather sofas and cosy wood-burner, and the stylish kitchen/diner has a large dining table with free-standing seating.

The Bracken Room accommodates 3 guests in full-size bunk beds and a single bed and has an en-suite wet-room with step-free shower, fixed grab-rails for shower, hand-held shower attachment, shower stool and wheel-under washbasin. A shower wheelchair and toilet raiser with handles are also available to loan.

The Heather Room sleeps 4 guests in two sets of full-size bunk beds, and has an en-suite shower room with step-free shower. The Thistle Room accommodates 5 guests in three full-size bunk beds and a king-size bed, and also has an en-suite shower room with step-free shower.

Guests can enjoy a large accessible decked area with picnic benches and spectacular views. The bunkhouse has a fully enclosed garden and a large parking area with EV charger.

Balgownie Bunkhouse is situated on a working family farm and guests are welcome to join tours of the mixed farm including behind the scenes visits, meeting the Highland cows and calves, walking in the crop fields, and meeting the farm’s Pygmy goats. Most areas of the tour are wheelchair-accessible.

A ‘Cream Tea Tour’ is available with guests invited into the family farmhouse for a hot drink and homemade cakes following the tour. Bespoke tours can also be arranged.

Balgownie Mains Farm is situated less than three miles from the picturesque village of The Royal Burgh of Culross overlooking the Firth of Forth with Royal Palace and Abbey.

A second accessible property ‘Bramble Brae’ is also situated at the farm sleeping 8 guests in 4 bedrooms (link in Summary section).

Guests can enjoy exploring the beautiful Fife countryside and coastline, and visit a wide range of popular attractions such as Blackness Castle, Falkland Palace, Pittencrieff Park, Aberdour Castle or Doune Castle. The farm is within driving distance of pretty towns and villages, and the vibrant and historic cities of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling.
