Property description

Major’s Lodge is a beautiful wheelchair-accessible safari lodge overlooking the grassy expanses and lakes of Watatunga Wildlife Reserve with views of herds of highly-endangered exotic deer and antelope.

Major’s Lodge has a spacious sitting room with large picture window providing stunning views of the gardens and wildlife reserve beyond, comfortable sofas and armchairs, and a cosy open-fire. The conservatory leading off the sitting room has corner seating opening onto a large accessible decked area.

The lodge also has a modern fully-equipped kitchen, and separate dining room with dining table and seating for eight.

Major’s Lodge has four luxury bedrooms including two wheelchair-accessible bedrooms, a family bathroom, and cloakroom/WC. One of the twin bedrooms has a profiling bed and standard single bed.

The spacious accessible wet-room has a step-free shower, fixed grab-rails for the shower, wall-mounted shower seat, drop-down grab-rail and fixed grab-rail alongside WC, wheel-under washbasin, and fixed grab-rails for the washbasin. Mobility equipment can be hired locally by guests and delivered to the lodge prior to arrival.

Major’s Lodge has a delightful wilderness garden which is fully enclosed and secure and has stunning views across the expanses of the wildlife reserve. The raised decked area has outdoor dining furniture, BBQ, and a ramp leading to the lawn.

Guests at Major’s Lodge can enjoy a unique and special holiday experience, with exclusive use of a golf buggy, complimentary guided-tour of the reserve in a state-of-the-art wheelchair-accessible trailer (with a Size 4 Special Tomato seat available free of charge), and option to book additional private guided tours.

Guests can learn all about the conservation work from the team at Watatunga Wildlife Reserve and have the opportunity to meet exotic herds of deer and antelope, water-buffalo, white-stork, rare pheasants, ducks and great bustards.

An accessible state-of-the-art bird hide is situated just a few minutes walk from the lodge, and there is access to ‘catch and release’ trout fishing at the private newly-stocked lake.

Watatunga Wildlife Resort is within easy driving distance of the historic port town of King’s Lynn, the Sandringham Estate, a wide range of family activities and attractions, and the beautiful Norfolk Coastline.
