Property description
Villa Zafarraya is a newly renovated boutique villa situated at the foot of the majestic Zafarraya Gorge in Andalucia with spectacular panoramic views.
Villa Zafarraya has an open-plan living/dining/kitchen with dual aspect windows/patio doors providing stunning mountain and valley views. The living room/dining area has a stylish corner sofa, cosy wood-burner, flat-screen TV, and wheelchair-accessible dining table with free standing seating. Double doors open onto the private terrace and pool.
The accessible kitchen has electric rise-and-fall/wheel-under worktops, sink and induction hob, an open view through to the living room and terrace, and a rear window and door with more spectacular views of the olive grove and Zafarraya gorge.
The villa has sliding doors into the accessible master bedroom with double profiling bed, mobile hoist, and en-suite wet-room with step-free shower, wall-mounted shower seat, shower wheelchair, drop-down grab-rails either side of WC, hand-held bidet spray alongside WC, and wheel-under washbasin.
The two additional bedrooms also have double beds and beautiful mountain views, and the family bathroom has a walk-in rainfall shower, washbasin and WC. All three bedrooms and the living area have air-conditioning.
The villa has a white sun terrace with private heated pool leading to extensive private gardens with wide hard-standing pathways, spectacular mountain and valley views, and a pretty garden to the front of the villa with lavender and bougainvillea.
The pool has been lengthened to create a gently sloping ramp for wheelchair users to enter the pool and a platform on which guests can relax in the water. A pool wheelchair and mobile hoist are available, and the pool can be heated all year round.
The terrace has a white pergola and large ‘tree table’ with wheelchair-accessible outdoor dining table and BBQ, and the extensive gardens have multiple seating areas, an ‘Aperitif corner’, a relaxing ‘Silent corner’ with views of the olive grove, shaded areas, and wheelchair-accessible outdoor shower with hot/cold water. Guests can also enjoy table tennis, darts, and pool toys.
Villa Zafarraya has a range of mobility equipment available to loan free of charge including a mobile hoist, shower wheelchair, and lightweight electronic wheelchair. Additional equipment can be hired locally with a partner company and care can be organised with an English speaking care agency familiar with the villa.
The owners developed the villa based on their belief that wheelchair users and their family have just as much right to a wonderful holiday as everyone else and had multiple conversations with people about the accessibility features that are important to ensure an enjoyable holiday.
Villa Zafarraya is situated in a peaceful rural location yet is within easy driving distance of wheelchair-accessible beaches or the historic and vibrant cities of Malaga and Granada. Authentic Spanish white villages are just a few miles away. The climate is very mild and significantly less hot during the summer months than further inland.
It is a 55 minute drive from Malaga airport, car rental can be organised with a car rental partner who have five adapted cars suitable for a passenger in a wheelchair.
