Exploring hidden gems on the Llyn Peninsula..

As Wales residents, we were lucky enough to be able to escape over the Easter weekend to the stunning Llyn Peninsula Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in North West Wales, known as the ‘Land’s End of Wales’. We stayed in the beautiful village of Abersoch, but took a short trip to the charming village of Aberdaron to visit two of our accessible escapes – One Dolfor and Manaros, which share a plot just a few minutes walk from the pretty village and beach. The 2 properties can be let together, perfect for large family or friends groups.

One Dolfor has a spacious kitchen/diner (with one of my favourite kitchens!), a cosy lounge with log-burner, and 4 bedrooms, including Ysgo – a king-size ground-floor bedroom with en-suite accessible wet-room, which can also be rearranged to accommodate a profiling bed (for a small additional charge). Ysgo also has beautiful sea views. One Dolfor has three further bedrooms on the first floor all with sea, island or mountain views. At the front of the cottage you can relax in the beautiful gardens and soak up the picturesque coastline and mountain views. A Tramper all-terrain scooter is available to guests at no additional charge, which owner Peter invited us to try out!

Manaros is situated just behind One Dolfor, and is a newly built accessible bungalow. The first thing you see when you walk into the bungalow is the stunning open-plan living/dining/kitchen room with floor-to-ceiling windows, and doors opening onto a sheltered patio with lovely countryside views. The lounge has leather sofas, a riser/recliner chair, and a large log-burner, perfect for cosy evenings after a busy day in the sea air!

Manaros has a huge luxury kitchen and an extendable dining table which can seat up to 12 guests, perfect if you are part of a large group linked with One Dolfor! There are separate double doors leading into a sunny conservatory, also with lovely views, so there are plenty of places to find a quiet corner if you are with a large group.

All the bedrooms at Manaros are spacious and light, and Ynys Enlli is an accessible bedroom with twin/super king-size bed, and en-suite accessible wet-room (it can also be rearranged to accommodate a profiling bed). The bungalow has 3 further en-suite twin/super-king bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms, and a second accessible wet-room is available to all guests.

We were pretty poor at taking pictures as we were so engrossed in looking around, but have added a few little videos to our FB page!

Our little wobbler found accessibility around Manaros and the ground floor of One Dolfor very easy with level thresholds, spacious rooms and level interior.

Aberdaron is a charming former fishing village, and although a little hilly, it does have accessible parking, an accessible promenade, and accessible toilets. We can confirm that the Tramper can efficiently carry you back up the hill to the houses!

We have visited the Llyn Peninsula many times, and although slightly biased, we cannot recommend this part of the world enough for fabulous holidays! You can enjoy numerous outdoor adventures, explore the stunning coastline and pretty villages, visit Anglesey, explore the Snowdonia National Park, and enjoy a wide range of attractions for all the family. We’ve popped in some links below with more information on the local area, and our lovely owners are always happy to answer more questions about local accessibility. We spent most of our time exploring the beaches as all the attractions and shops were still closed, but our aim for the weekend was just peace, quiet and fresh air…
