Property description
The Wheelabout is a large purpose-built house with beautiful sea views and spacious grounds, situated just a few minutes drive from the popular harbour town of Tenby.
The wheelchair-accessible house has a private heated pool with hoist, an accessible bedroom with ceiling hoist, profiling bed, and en-suite wet-room, mobile hoist, wheelchair lift, and range of mobility equipment.
The Wheelabout has a spacious ground-floor kitchen/diner with fully-equipped kitchen (with a lowered worktop), breakfast bar, dining table with free-standing seating, and patio doors opening onto a decked terrace with outdoor dining furniture and countryside views.
The house also has two ground-floor bedrooms including a twin bedroom and family bedroom with bunk beds and twin beds; and a bathroom with step-free shower.
The Wheelabout has a large hallway with wheelchair lift leading to the first floor. The large first floor living room is in an elevated position and has comfortable sofas, adjustable armchair, and flat-screen TV; and a second seating area with armchairs and panoramic views through floor-to-ceiling picture windows. Patio doors open onto a large balcony.
Mobility equipment is available including floor sitters, Tripp Trapp chair, table/easel and spider chair.
The first floor also has a double bedroom with en-suite shower room, and a spacious accessible bedroom with profiling bed, second single bed, and ceiling hoist leading into a large en-suite wet-room. The accessible wet-room has a step-free shower, Kingcraft hydraulic bath, height-adjustable washbasin, and selection of toileting/shower chairs.
Guests can enjoy a heated private pool with hoist, easy access steps and handrail, and large changing area with accessible shower and changing table.
The Wheelabout has beautiful wheelchair-accessible gardens and memory orchard surrounding the house. It is situated on the Ridgeway overlooking the pretty village of Penally, and has beautiful sea views across to Caldey Island and the Gower.
The popular seaside town of Tenby is just one mile away and guests can enjoy exploring the town with it’s colourful houses, harbour, sandy beaches and characterful high street. Guests can also enjoy a boat trip to the holy island of Caldey Island, or travel a short distance to fabulous Pembrokeshire family attractions such as Folly Farm, Manor House Wildlife Park, or Tenby Dinosaur Park.
The Wheelabout has been adapted by The Harriet Davis Seaside Holiday Trust for families with children with physical disabilities.
