meet the escape owners…west acre luxury cottage

In our latest ‘Meet the Escape Owners’ journal post we’re delighted to introduce you to Jeff, Vicki and Nathan Anspach, owners of beautiful West Acre Luxury Cottage in Yorkshire!

Can you tell us a little about you and the name of your escape?

West Acre was originally built as our family home as we had very specific requirements with one of our family being a wheelchair user.

When our family grew up, we developed West Acre into a luxury large group holiday home. We wanted it to be a magical place where more and more fantastic memories would continue to be made by the guests who come to stay.

Celebration Holiday Homes is a small family business dedicated to the highest level of customer service, from the moment you make your booking until the time when you have to leave West Acre, you will be personally looked after by Jeff, Vicki and Nathan.

We know the area well and have close relationships with a number of local suppliers and can recommend a variety of services for you.

Can you tell us a little more about your escape?

West Acre is a large holiday home in the small Yorkshire village of Wistow, a short drive from the Historic City of York. Wistow is a beautiful quiet village with a friendly village pub, close to the market town of Selby which has all the main supermarkets, pubs, take aways and restaurants etc.

We are particularly suited to the more laid back celebrations where the main thing the group want to do is spend time with each other whilst enjoying the facilities, comfort and space we have to offer.

West Acre has 7 Individual Boutique style luxury bedrooms and 7 bathrooms, a modern kitchen diner and two large living rooms.

There is loads to do at West Acre including a sauna, cinema room, pool table etc.

Set in an acre of enclosed private landscaped gardens, there is also a huge sun terrace where you will find our totally private 6 seater hot tub overlooking open fields. We have plenty of room to get together and also for people to escape the group when needed.

What inspired you to ensure your escape was accessible?

As a family we know how difficult it can be to find a property which is accessible where everyone can feel included. As we had built one, we decided to open it up as an inclusive holiday let where everyone was welcome and everyone could enjoy what was on offer, we offer all of our guests accessible luxury, not a choice between luxury or accessibility.

Vicki is a trained nurse who specialised in continuing heath care, using her knowledge of multiple conditions we have been able to make West Acre as accessible as we can, she is also available to speak to all our guests, understand their specific needs and ensure that West Acre is suitable for them before they book.

Whilst we have downstairs bedrooms, our main en-suite accessible bedroom is upstairs in a lovely quiet spot of the house. We have a lift in our property, as when we built the house our son said he wanted to sleep upstairs with everyone else, not downstairs on his own.

What is unique about your escape?

West Acre has been specifically designed to host multi-generational groups and provides the perfect venue for their special celebration. We have facilities and space for everyone in that group from our ‘baby package’ for the newest addition of the family to our variety of accessible features to ensure for the comfort and inclusion of everyone in the group. We have even considered the four-legged members of the family.

We are particularly suited to the more laid-back celebrations where the main thing the group want to do is spend time with each other whilst enjoying the facilities, comfort and space we have to offer. There is loads to do in the area, but most groups spend most of their time staying at West Acre, enjoying that special time to be together and make special memories.

Do you have a favourite local accessible café, restaurant or pub?

We contact all our guests before they stay with us, we discuss their needs and advise of suitable places for them, there are a number of accessible venues in the area that we will advise upon depending upon the guests particular accessibility needs.

Our local village pub is good and there is a very accessible new restaurant café bar that has opened in our nearby town of Selby (our families favourite local place to eat)

Can you recommend any local accessible attractions or activities?

There are plenty of local things to do and with our local knowledge and experience of using them we are available to advise all our guests when we find out a bit more about what they want and what their specific needs are.

The best part about welcoming guests to your accessible escape?

We have a pre-visit call with all our guests before they arrive and meet all guests for a welcome meeting when they arrive.

The one thing we never tire of is seeing the excitement and joy on the faces of our guests as we show them round West Acre, knowing all our guests are going to have a magical time at West Acre is why we do what we do.
